Edmonton sports legend Joey Moss has passed away at the age of 57.

Moss, who was born with Down syndrome, worked as a locker room attendant with the Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Football Team for years. He was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.

In a statement, Moss's household said he died quietly Monday with his household by his side.

"Joey was an exceptional individual who taught us to enjoy, laugh, and take pleasure in life constantly," the declaration stated.

Moss was introduced to the Oilers in the 1984-85 season by Wayne Gretzky and became a fixture with the team ever since. Gretzky said the 2 had a relationship that spanned decades.
