Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler now has the Winnipeg Jets (and Atlanta Thrashers) record for most points by a player when he tied and then passed Ilya Kovalchuk with a goal and an assist on Saturday afternoon in Minnesota.

Wheeler came into the game needing two points to take the outright lead and with a shorthanded goal in the first period against the Wild he tied the all-time mark at 615 points.

The Minnesota born Wheeler then took top spot on the franchise leader-board in front of family and friends with an assist on Patrik Laine’s power-play goal in the third period.
