Opening NHL Odds: Senators -110 Favorites
The Senators are listed as favorites for the first time since February 7 as they host the skidding Red Wings on Wednesday. The last time Ottawa closed as a favorite was versus Anaheim, and the team came through with a 4-0 victory. Coincidentally, the previous time before that came against visiting Detroit, with the road team earning a 2-0 victory as a +110 underdog on February 2. The Senators are 3-2 in their last five games as favorites, with the UNDER going a perfect 5-0 during that stretch.
The Red Wings are riding a five-game losing streak and have dropped six of seven after a 2-0 start. They will also be playing on back-to-back nights after blowing a 2-0 lead in a 5-2 loss to the Canucks on Tuesday. Detroit is 1-4 the last five times the team has played the second game of a back-to-back situation and 3-9 in the past 12 dating back to November 24, 2018.
Penguins at Lightning | OddsShark Matchup Report
Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -200 Favorites
The Lightning will try to continue their recent dominance of the Penguins, as they go for their fourth straight home victory in the series. Tampa Bay has also won four of the past six meetings overall with three of those wins coming at home. Pittsburgh has not won on the road in this series since December 10, 2016. The most significant series trend though involves the total, with the OVER going 8-1 in the last nine games between the teams and 12-2 in the previous 14 head-to-head matchups.
This season, the Lightning have also seen the OVER go 6-2 in their first eight games. Meanwhile, the UNDER is 4-3-1 in the last eight for the Penguins, who have lost two in a row following a season-high five-game winning streak.
