After two days of “play-in” votes to see who would start off our Winnipeg Jets Fan Favorite Gantlet Series, we have our first two entrants.

Not sure what the JetsNation Fan Favorite Gauntlet Series is? Go back a few days and check out the introduction.

Andrei Chibisov, who has played in just two games with the Jets this season back in mid-February, goes up against Cody Eakin, who was acquired by the Jets in a trade with the Vegas Golden Knights in late-February.

Chibisov’s gantlet path…

Andrei won the four-way vote held on May 7 that also featured Joona Luoto, Mark Letestu and Nick Shore

Chibisov’s victory has to be considered a little bit of a surprise here when you consider Letestu gained fame and notoriety earlier in the season for eating a packet of mustard on the bench, and Shore’s arrival in December helped with the Jets forward depth and penalty kill, but Chibisov has been a solid performer for the Manitoba Moose this season with seven goals and 25 points in 53 games. Maybe it was the solo skate in his NHL debut that helped him win over fans as well.

Eakin’s gantlet path…

Cody won his four way vote on May 8 quite handily over CJ Suess, Logan Shaw and Carl Dahlstrom.

Eakin winning his vote wasn’t a surprise at all when you consider he’s a local Winnipeg product and since his arrival to the Jets has done a pretty solid job fitting in with Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers.

A reminder that from 2 PM CST, you have 22 hours to get your vote in between these two players. Once the vote is done, the winner moves on to take on another Jet a couple of hours later.
