The Winnipeg Jets return to Bell MTS Place after their one game road trip ended with an overtime loss in Dallas. These teams have already met twice this season with Anaheim winning big on October 29 by a score of 7-4. The Jets came back to Anaheim a few weeks later with a much better result as Hellebuyck earned the shutout in the 3-0 victory. The rubber match goes this afternoon as this is the final meeting of the season between the two teams.

Last Ducks Game
The Ducks got on the board early as Grant slammed in a rebound on Jack Campbell to go up by one. Anaheim didn’t stop there as they scored on the powerplay later in the first period. They never looked back as they poured in another two goals and won the game 4-2.
Fun Ducks Fact…
John Gibson has had a pretty stellar career so far. He currently ranks third among all active goalies in SV% with a career .920%. Only Tukka Rask and Ben Bishop currently have a higher number. In addition, he ranks sixth all time in SV% among goalies who have played over 200 games in the NHL.
What They’re Saying…
“I don’t know about you, but it appears that Anaheim have improved this year, and I’m sure you’re all flipping out about my usage of advanced stats, but it’s also apparent out on the ice; the Ducks are playing high event and much more exciting hockey – that’s using the eye test.”

Last Jets Game
The second game of the home and home between these two clubs had a bit of everything. There was a few big scrums, some interesting penalties, and some exciting goals. The Jets fell behind by two but mounted a big comeback in the third period which culminated in Schiefele’s tying goal in the final minute with Hellebuyck on the bench. The Jets couldn’t complete the comeback as Morrissey took a penalty in overtime and Dallas scored to take the extra point.
Fun Jets Facts…
- Laine didn’t manage to score against Dallas, which is rare, but he did pick up an assist and now leads the team in points with 28.
- Ehlers and Wheeler have had success against the Ducks this season with Ehlers picking up three goals and an assist in the two games while Wheeler has picked up a goal and two assists so far.
- Despite having a few rough outings at home to start the season, Winnipeg has rolled out an impressive 5-1-1 record in their last seven contests at Bell MTS Place.
- The powerplay has struggled lately as they’ve gone three games without a goal. The team is 0-9 in that span and will be looking to change that this afternoon.
What We’re Saying…
“It’s ok to get angry at missed calls. It’s fine to be angry at bad calls. You can even go as far as point out that a missed call, or a bad call led directly to a goal against. All of that is fair and acceptable. I won’t deny anyone the right to feel jilted in that way.
What you can’t say though is that a missed call, or a bad call or even a series of them put together ultimately decided the outcome of a 60 minute long game.”
