In what should be a pretty good matchup tonight, two streaking clubs will meet in Dallas as the Winnipeg Jets who have won their last three in a row, four of their last five and seven of their last nine games, take on the Dallas Stars who have gone 8-0-1 over their last nine games… That one OT blemish on that otherwise stellar record? It was an OT loss to the Jets back on November 10 in Winnipeg when the Jets beat the Stars 3-2.

Last Stars Game

Jamie Benn scored twice and Ben Bishop made 32 saves as the Stars won their fourth in a row as they beat the Vancouver Canucks from pillar to post in a 7-1 drubbing.

Fun Stars Facts…

  • Dallas owns a 23-16-3 record overall against the Jets/Thrashers franchise, including a 12-7-1 mark on home ice.
  • Tyler Seguin is currently riding a three-game home point streak (4-4=8) against the Jets, while he’s tallied nine points (5-4=9) in his last five games overall against them. Seguin also has 14 points (7-7=14) over his last 10 games against Winnipeg.
  • The Stars registered their fourth-straight win and extended their current point streak to nine games on Tuesday, having logged an 8-0-1 record dating back to Oct. 29.
  • The Stars have outscored opponents 36-17 over the last nine games, with the team ranked first in the League with 1.89 goals against per game and first with 4.00 goals for per game.

What They’re Saying…

And for the 2019-20 Dallas Stars, it seems as though their turning point arrived with 47.5 seconds remaining in the second period of their game against the Minnesota Wild on Oct. 29. At that specific moment in time, everything seemed to change.

Dallas Stars: Early Season Resurgence Provides New Perspective – Blackout Dallas

“He just had a whole different vision of the game, how it felt, how it should be played, what would work and what wouldn’t,” Modano said. “When you look at it, it was perfect timing for him to come to Dallas. We didn’t have a puck-moving defenseman, we didn’t have someone to organize the power play, and we were really open to whatever ideas he had. It just came together for us, and for him.”

Last Jets Game

It wasn’t exactly a pretty game, but the Jets struck with a goal early in both the first and second periods and thanks to a 38 save effort from Connor Hellebuyck, made those two goals stand up in a 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Fun Jets Facts…

  • The Jets are tied for the NHL lead with 54.9% of zone starts in the offensive zone and are sixth in the NHL with a 51.4% face-off winning percentage.
  • Winnipeg is eighth in the NHL with a 85.7% penalty kill during the month of November.
  • Tuesday was Winnipeg’s NHL-leading 10th victory by one-goal this season. Eight of Winnipeg’s past nine wins have been by one goal.
  • The Jets are 17-11-1 against the Stars since the franchise moved to Winnipeg in 2011.
  • Patrik Laine has 16 goals in 14 career games against Dallas, including a pair of hat tricks. Five of Laine’s 16 goals against the Stars are game-winning goals.
  • Connor Hellebuyck is 8-4-1 in 13 career starts against the Stars, with a 2.38 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.

What We’re Saying…

Now sitting with the team lead in goals, Ehlers has been tremendous over the past few games. With goals in three straight games, Ehlers has been featured on the scoresheet every game on this road trip. Along with the goals, Ehlers has also been dominating possession as his line of Jack Roslovic and Blake Wheeler have been really strong since coming together a few weeks ago. They have routinely out-shot and out-chanced their opposition which is great news for the team.
