Last Devils Game
Both the Devils and the Hurricanes traded goals throughout the first 40 minutes of play, with the score being tied at three heading into the final period. Thanks to an early third-period goal from defenseman PK Subban, and an empty-net goal, the Devils defeated the Hurricanes by a score of 5-3.
Fun Devils Facts…
- MILESTONE WATCH: Hall enters this game just five points shy for 200 career points with the Devils. Overall, Hall has recorded 523 career points through his ten seasons in the league.
- Entering this game, the Devils have allowed three goals or more in each of their previous four games.
- Coming into tonight’s game, the Devils have produced just a single win when their team has scored first, which is the fewest wins by that margin in the entire league.
What They’re Saying…
The New Jersey Devils are living that nightmare through the first month of the season. The Devils – an interesting upstart team with plenty of firepower sprinkled throughout the lineup – made a big bet on the Corey Schneider and Mackenzie Blackwood combination for the 2019-20 season.
TSN – Devils’ current goaltending dilemma
For those who need a translator, Subban has been great, above average, amazing, really good, great and good in the past six games in that order. That’s some serious consistency, which is what the Devils needed from Subban when he came over. There are games where Sami Vatanen looks like a number-one defenseman and games where Damon Severson can look like one. Neither of them can do it over an 82-game season, and most of the time it can’t last longer than a week. They needed a player who could do that for six months straight with nary a night off.
FANSIDED – Early success of P.K. Subban trade
Last Jets Game
After falling behind the Golden Knights 3-1 through the first 20 minutes, the Jets were able to rally in the third period to tie the game with goals from Mathieu Perreault and Mark Scheifele to force the game into overtime. With just 1:38 minutes left in overtime, Kyle Connor was able to blast the game-winning goal past goalie Malcolm Subban.
Fun Jets Facts…
- Currently, the Jets have allowed the second-most goals (23) during the second period throughout the league.
- Through the Jets/Thrashers 64 total games against the Devils, Winnipeg owns a record of 29-27-5. Despite the Jets winning record, their team has surrendered 2.89 goals/game and scored just 2.52 goals/game all-time against the Devils.
- MILESTONES WATCH: Entering tonight’s game, Laine remains just a pair of points away for 200 points for his career. Nikolaj Ehlers is just three goals shy of the 100th goal of his career.
What We’re Saying…
With another lengthy homestand on the horizon, the Jets are sure hoping it goes better than the last one. The Jets had five straight games at Bell MTS Place last month and they went a measly 1-4 against some fairly week competition. The struggles are even more frustrating when looking at the Jets record at home over the past few years. The Jets have always enjoyed success in their home barn with a .603 winning percentage at Bell MTS Place throughout the franchises history.
