The last time the Winnipeg Jets saw the St Louis Blues on the ice for meaningful hockey, it was April and the Blues were celebrating a 4-2 playoff series victory over the Jets on their home ice. Since then, the Blues went on to win the Stanley Cup while the Jets summer didn’t go quite as well. The Blues have proven to be more than a one-hit wonder as they sport one of the best records in the NHL thanks to a balanced roster, fine goaltending and good coaching. The Jets have surpassed expectations so far themselves, but a lot has had to do with goaltending and timely scoring.
We’ll get a really good idea of just where the Jets are in terms of being able to compete with the big boy teams as tonight kicks off an home and home set with the Blues.

Last Blues Game
All the scoring happened in the first period as the Blues pounced on the Kings right away and raced out to a 4-0 lead less than 13 minutes into their game in Los Angeles. The Kings did get one back before the first period ended, but by then the damage was done and the Blues put it in cruise control the rest of the game to beat the Kings 4-1.
Fun Blues Facts…
- St Louis will enter their matchup with Winnipeg on Friday night on a 6-game win streak, which is the longest active streak in the NHL
- The Blues have given up 2.53 goals per game, which ranks 4th in the NHL.
- St Louis leads the NHL with 14 comeback wins this season.
- Alex Pietrangelo has 8 points in his last 8 games (3g, 5a), the Blues leading scorer David Perron has a 4-game point streak (3g, 4a) currently going while Jaden Schwartz has a 4-game point streak (2g, 4a)
What They’re Saying…
Berube walked into the locker room and jerked a knot into this team’s ass. The winning didn’t begin right away, but the accountability did. If a player wasn’t playing up to snuff, they got benched, period. If someone wasn’t working well on a particular line, they got moved. There wasn’t coddling in that locker room. How could there be from a man who finished his NHL career with 3,154 penalty minutes?
Blues head coach Craig Berube is the gift that keeps on giving – St Louis Game Time
The Blues will almost have to rely on the idea they are trying to keep together a winner and Pietrangelo’s salary will have to adhere to what their current salary cap situation is. Whether Pietrangelo is willing to accept that or not is the unknown quantity.

Fun Jets Facts…
- Mark Scheifele leads the Jets in scoring during the 2019 calendar year with 74 points (33G, 41A) in 80 games played. He also has a team leading 11 power play goals in that same span.
- Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is 6-3-0 against the Blues in the regular season with a 1.66 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage.
- The Jets have won four of their past five regular season games against the Blues and 12 of their last 14 meetings.
- The Jets have won 40 games in a calendar year for the third consecutive year and fourth time in the past five years. The Jets need three points in their last three games in 2019 to post their third best record in a calendar year since relocation.
What We’re Saying…
Through 37 games this season, Winnipeg is tied for the most wins (5) after trailing through the first 40 minutes of action. As for St. Louis, they’re tied for the second-most wins (4) when trailing after the second period this season. So, something is bound to give during the third period tonight. Based on these numbers above, this game could potentially be decided by one final goal during the last few minutes of regulation.
