Both the Penguins and Jets played on the road last night and both teams are still dealing with some injury issues at the moment, so neither of them have an advantage over the other as they head into tonight’s game against each other in Winnipeg. The Jets do have a three game win streak at the moment while the Penguins have won their last two games.

Last Penguins Game

Sam Lafferty and Adam Johnson both scored their first NHL goals and stepped up big time for an injury plagued Penguins club. The Penguins beat up on the Minnesota Wild in their first road game of the season last night in Minnesota.

Fun Penguins Fact…

  • Kris Letang is on a five-game point streak to open the season (six points; two goals, four assists). He needs one point to reach 500 in the NHL.

What They’re Saying…

So it could be a battle of the backups tonight, for the Pens Tristan Jarry would be making his NHL season debut and is probably more of a wildcard/unknown for his performance.

Gameday: Pittsburgh Penguins @ Winnipeg Jets – Pensburgh

There were some rumblings back in the summer that the Oilers wanted Bryan Rust in return for Puljujarvi. Johnson and Rust would likely be an enticing package for Oilers GM Ken Holland.

Pittsburgh Penguins should pursue a Jesse Puljujarvi trade – PuckProse

Last Jets Game

The Jets overcame a slow start and managed to grind out an overtime victory in Chicago with a 3-2 decision over the Blackhawks

Fun Jets Facts…

  • The Jets are back home for five consecutive games and are the home team for six consecutive games including the 2019 Tim Hortons
Heritage Classic on Oct. 26 against the Calgary Flames.
  • The Jets have trailed first in all six games to start the season and have come back to win four of those games, which leads the NHL in
    wins when trailing first.
  • Mark Scheifele scored his eighth career overtime goal last night, which is the second most overtime goals in franchise history.
  • MILESTONE WATCH: Mathieu Perreault remains just two points shy of reaching 200 for his career as a member of the Jets. Andrew Copp is playing in his 300th career game tonight.

What We’re Saying…

There’s no need to play Heinola over 20 minutes on a nightly basis. He’s not used to such a rigorous schedule and getting some time off will likely help him as the season progresses. There’s no need to worry about the rookie who has looked really strong all season long.
