On Thursday, August 29th, we took over the links at Cougar Creek Golf Resort for the third annual Oilersnation Open presented by the Canadian Brewhouse and Wilhauk Beef Jerky, and, as expected, it was one of the best days of the summer.

If you’ve never competed in the Oilersnation Open before, this is a must-play tournament in my humble opinion. Not only is the entire point of the tourney to raise as much money as possible for the Jason Gregor Foundation, but we also aim to give everyone as much fun as we can possibly pack into an eight(ish)-hour day, and, this year, I think we nailed it. From start to finish, we made it a priority to step our game up in regards to the giveaways, prizes, stuff to do at each hole, and anything else we could think of to give you guys a good time and to watch it all come together was a real joy for our crew. Basically, we want playing in this tournament to feel like you’re a part of something special and I hope that’s the vibe that everyone walked away with when the day wrapped.

Considering how much work gets put into making this tournament happen every year, the folks at Nation HQ take great pleasure in seeing those months worth of effort turn into an event that brings so many good times to so many people. Whether you were there for a laugh or to actually take a run at winning the trophy, I can’t thank you enough for spending a day with us and making this the most successful tournament we’ve done so far. Everyone was super friendly, seemingly had a great time, and made all of us laugh for hours at a time. Not to mention, your participation helped us raise a big chunk of money for the Jason Gregor Foundation (which makes Gregor cry every year), and that’s what it’s all about.

Check out the video from this year’s tourney:

From my standpoint, and that of the many people I spoke to, the day went about as well as we could have hoped despite a few minor bumps/delays and, to me, that’s a product of the fantastic community we’ve built here together. The attitude you guys bring to these events makes it fun to be a part of and worth all of the effort needed to get a project like this off the ground, and I know that I can speak for everyone at Nation HQ when I say how much we love getting citizens together and this year’s golf tournament was no exception.

With 35 teams and 140 golfers invading the Cougar Creek Golf Resort, this tournament would not happen without the help of our wonderful sponsors and volunteers that spend a day helping us out and taking care of the golfers, and I can’t thank each of them enough for making this possible. You guys are the glue that holds this thing together and I’m always blown away by the response any time we put a call out for volunteers. A very special thank you to the Canadian Brewhouse and Wilhauk Beef Jerky for signing on as title sponsors this year and making this crazy dream of ours possible.
