Red Wings at Flyers | OddsShark Matchup Report
For a brief seven-game stint, the Red Wings were actually putting some consistent offense together. From November 8 through November 21, Detroit scored at least three goals in six of the seven games that it played and averaged 3.29 goals per game over that stretch, posting a respectable 3-2-2 record. But that competitive streak is gone as quickly as it came; the Red Wings are now 0-3 over their last three games and have been outscored 13-1 with two straight shutout losses in those games.
Since 1998, the Red Wings have played 17 games on the road against the Flyers. Philadelphia is a remarkable 16-0-1 over that stretch. Their last regulation loss at home to Detroit came back in 1997.
The Flyers have been streaky in the month of November with a 5-0-1 run to start the month followed by a 1-2-3 run over their next six games. But with back-to-back regulation wins over the Vancouver Canucks and Columbus Blue Jackets, the Flyers have now won two straight and have points in four straight with a 3-0-1 record. On the season, Philadelphia is 13-7-5 and ranks eighth in the NHL in goals against average allowing 2.76 goals per game.
Friday night’s total is set at six goals at sports betting sites. The UNDER is 10-2 in Detroit’s last 12 games against opponents in the Metropolitan Division.
Given how thoroughly the Flyers have dominated the Red Wings both recently overall and historically at home, it’s tough to make a strong case for Detroit snapping its seven-game losing streak in this one. Then again, it was also impossible to see the Red Wings’ 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins earlier this month as +210 underdogs coming, so you never know for sure.
