The Red Wings went to overtime for the second straight game on this three-game road trip through Southern California on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Kings. But while they found the game winner against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, on Thursday it was the Kings who came out on top with a 3-2 victory. With the overtime loss, the Red Wings fell to 7-12-2 on the season. They did extend their points streak to four games with a 3-0-1 record however, a vast improvement over the 1-11-1 the team went over its previous 13 games.
In their last nine games on the road, the Red Wings are 1-8 on the moneyline per the OddsShark NHL Database.
San Jose appeared to be on its way to a disastrous 2019-20 campaign after going 0-4 through its first four games and 4-10-1 through its first 15 games. But after scoring two goals or fewer in five straight games on an 0-5 slump that started in late October and crept into early November, the Sharks have exploded for 22 goals over their last five games and have compiled a perfect 5-0 record over that stretch. Only time will tell if the first 15 games were the anomaly to the season.
Saturday night’s total is set at 6.5 goals at sports betting sites. The OVER is 4-1 in San Jose’s last five games as a betting favorite.
Both the Red Wings and the Sharks finished the month of October with identical 4-8-1 records. Detroit is 3-4-1 since then while San Jose is 5-2. The Red Wings and Sharks have been playing well over the last week and change; this could be an entertaining game if both continue to maintain their recent form.
