The NHL has reportedly moved the date of the NHL draft up.

According to The Athletic’s Corey Pronman, the draft will now be held on Oct. 6-7 from original tentative dates of Oct. 9-10.

The draft will come days before free agency which is set to open on Oct. 9th.

The Vancouver Canucks are without their first and second-round pick in this year’s draft. Vancouver moved their first-round pick in June 2019 in a deal that saw them acquire J.T. Miller, while their second-round pick was dealt just before the NHL’s trade deadline when the Canucks acquired Tyler Toffoli.

Vancouver holds draft picks in rounds three through seven. However, the seventh-round pick was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks when the Canucks traded Michael Del Zotto for Luke Schenn and the pick in Jan. 2019.
