Pettersson scored 3 goals and added 3 helps in his very first three games last year. His scored on his first shot in his very first video game. After three video games this year Pettersson has one objective and no helps. He collected 10 objectives in his first 10 video games, however struggled down the stretch, scoring two times and including 11 assists in the final 23 games."Play my best hockey every game," he said.

"People understand who you are and what your skills are everything about."

Against the Kings, Pettersson centred a line with Brock Boeser and J.T. Miller. Boeser stated teams will attempt to cage Pettersson.

"They take your time and area away," stated Boeser, a Calder Trophy finalist in 2018. "Guys are keying on him. He's going to have to learn. It's a process.

"He's a positive kid. Since it's part of the knowing curve in the NHL, he can't get frustrated. All the terrific players go through it, so he'll discover."

Canuck head coach Travis Green is preaching patience.

"I think he's got to return to fundamentals, just play fast and move the puck," stated Green. "Let the game come to him. Maybe he's trying to do a little too much.

"Petey is ultra-competitive. He wishes to do well. Often less is more for each player."

'Players type in on you'

Centre Bo Horvat, who was named the Canucks 14th captain prior to Wednesday's video game, stated numerous players deal with difficulties in their 2nd year.

"The biggest thing is players essential in on you a little bit more," stated Horvat. "You're going against the top [protective] pairs, the best shutdown men. It absolutely makes it harder.
