The Detroit Red Wings were looking for their first win against a Metropolitan Division opponent Monday when they hosted the Philadelphia Flyers.

However, that win will have to wait until another day, as the Flyers won 3-0 at Little Caesars Arena.

Thoughts and Highlights

  • This screenshot was taken during the game, so the Red Wings are now 0-14-1 against the Metro.
  • Jonathan Bernier stood tall in the first period, making 12 saves. The Flyers outattempted the Red Wings 22-6 at 5 on 5 in the first 20 minutes.

  • Kevin Hayes scored shorthanded to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead early in the third period.
  • Forward Tyler Pitlick kept the shutout going for Brian Elliott, making a nice skate save midway through the third.

So many Ls, so little time.

Motor City MVP

Jonathan Bernier

Bernier continues to prove himself as the starting goalie for the rest of this season and, possibly, the foreseeable future. This game could have easily been 4-0 or 5-0, but Bernier stood tall and kept the score close, making 28 saves.

Unfortunately, the Red Wings can’t buy a goal right now.
